The award winning project built under Telangana government’s Double Bed Room Housing Scheme in Kolluru, Sangareddy district, is nearing competition and will be inaugurated soon.
The 2BHK project in Kolluru-Phase 2, was recognised nationally and bagged the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) award for best practices 2019-20 under Housing, Urban Poverty and Infrastructure theme. The mega housing project being built by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is coming up with 15,660 dwelling units at an estimated project cost of Rs 1,408 crore.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Sunday shared photographs of the project and tweeted saying he is awaiting its inauguration with an hashtag- #TrailblazerTelangana.
“Another beautiful sighting from the sky was the largest #DignityHousing 2BHK project at Kollur in Sangareddy district Has shaped up beautifully 15,660 units In a single location. Keen on getting this inaugurated by Hon’ble CM #KCR Garu at the earliest #TrailblazerTelangana,” the Minister tweeted.
The amenities in the housing society built for economically weaker sections are on par with the ones in premium housing societies. An exclusive sewerage treatment plant (STP), power back-up for lifts, common lighting in corridors, open air gyms, playgrounds and places of worship are some of the amenities in store for beneficiaries.
Rainwater harvesting pits, electrical appliances, three commercial complexes, ample parking space, external electrification with underground cabling, water supply through potable pipes and underground drainage system makes the Kolluru 2BHK a complete housing project.
The GHMC officials said that a school, hospital, ATMs, anganwadi centers, bus stops, fire station are other facilities that will be made available in Kolluru project. The housing society is being built on a land parcel measuring 120 acres with 15,660 houses spread across 117 blocks.
The project will give a new lease of life for around 80,000 people who will soon be occupying their brand new 2BHK houses. The State government formulated the housing scheme in 2015 to provide dignity living to the poor for free and applications are called for 2BHK houses from eligible beneficiaries by the District Collectors.
