BJP Using Delimitation as Political Strategy: Minister Vivek
Hyderabad, April 15: Labour, Employment and Mines Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy on Wednesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), unable to secure electoral success in South India, is using the issue of delimitation as a political strategy.
Speaking to the media, the Minister said the Centre is attempting to replicate in South India what it had earlier implemented in Assam, with efforts aimed at reshaping the political landscape in favour of the BJP.
He noted that although delimitation exercises were carried out in the past, they did not trigger such widespread objections and concerns. The current approach, however, has raised serious apprehensions among various sections, he said.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy stated that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has studied the issue in detail and proposed a balanced and broadly acceptable solution on delimitation.
Alleging that the BJP-led Central government is attempting to do injustice to South Indian states, the Minister stressed that any delimitation exercise must be conducted in a fair and balanced manner, with due consultation of all stakeholders to ensure equitable representation.
