Public Welfare, Employment Generation and Industrial Development Remain Government’s Core Priorities: Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy
Hyderabad, June 8: Marking the completion of one year in office, Minister for Labour, Employment, Training & Factories, and Mines & Geology, Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy, on Monday addressed a media conference and presented a comprehensive overview of the achievements of his departments, key government initiatives, and future plans.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the government has worked relentlessly over the past year with a clear focus on public welfare, industrial development, and employment generation. He reiterated that the government remains fully committed to fulfilling the promises made to the people and has taken several important decisions to accelerate Telangana’s growth and development.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy stated that the welfare of gig and platform workers is among the government’s key priorities. A dedicated policy is being formulated to provide social security, insurance coverage, and health protection to gig workers. He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring minimum wages for workers across the State and safeguarding labour rights through effective implementation of labour welfare measures.
Reaffirming the government’s firm stand against illegal sand transportation and sand mafia activities, the Minister said there would be zero tolerance towards illegal mining and transportation. Special enforcement teams are continuously monitoring such activities, and strict action will be taken against individuals involved in illegal operations that result in loss of government revenue, he warned.
Highlighting the State’s efforts to promote industrial growth, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said Telangana has created a conducive environment for investments and industrial expansion. These initiatives are generating employment opportunities for local youth and contributing significantly to economic development. He noted that the government is placing strong emphasis on skill development by equipping young people with industry-relevant skills that match current market demands.
The Minister also highlighted the government’s support for the Indiramma Housing Scheme, stating that free sand is being supplied to beneficiaries to reduce their financial burden. He said stringent measures are being taken to ensure that illegal sand activities do not hinder the construction of houses for the poor. Greater transparency has been introduced in sand distribution to ensure that every eligible beneficiary receives sand without difficulty. Fulfilling the dream of home ownership for economically weaker families remains one of the government’s key objectives, he added.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy further announced that an Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) is being established in Chennur to provide high-quality, technology-driven skill training to local youth. The centre will offer industry-oriented training programmes designed to improve employability and prepare young people for emerging job opportunities. He said the ATCs being established by the State Government will serve as gateways to employment, entrepreneurship, and global career opportunities for Telangana’s youth.
The Minister stated that the government has worked in accordance with the aspirations of the people over the past year and will continue to accelerate development and welfare programmes in the coming years. He reiterated that the government’s vision is to transform Telangana into a model state for the nation through inclusive growth, employment generation, and people-centric governance.
