Secunderabad: The closing ceremony of the prestigious 72nd Inter Services Volleyball Championship for the year 2022-23 was conducted at Eagles Indoor Volleyball Stadium, 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad on 22 November 2022 in which two teams of Indian Army (Red & Green), one team of Indian Navy and one team of Indian Air Force have participated. The event provided an opportunity to outstanding sportsmen for getting selected to the Services Volleyball team. The Army Red team emerged victorious with a set score of 3-1 (25-21, 19-25, 25-17, 26-24).
Brigadier K Somashankar, Officiating GOC, TASA graced the Closing ceremony as the Chief guest and presented the Medals to Army Green Team, the runner up and the Inter-Services Volleyball Championship trophy 2022-23 and Medals to Army Red Team. The Indian Navy team Secured 3rd position and the Indian Air Force team secured 4th position in the tournament.Brigadier Suresh G, Commandant, 1 EME Centre Inaugurated the Championship on 19 Nov 2022. A Total of Six matches were conducted from 19 Nov to 22 Nov 2022 on a league cum knock-out basis. The Championship aimed to inculcate competition spirit and Sportsmanship amongst defence personnel and to select the Services team for the tentatively 71st Sr National Volleyball Championship.
The Army Volleyball Node was established at 1 EME Centre in the year 2003 and since then responsible for the training and maintenance of the Indian Army Volleyball Services team is with 1 EME Centre. The players have participated in various National & International Championship & proved their Metals.
