Hyderabad: Positive Parenting Key to Protecting Children and fathers also could be included in child care programmes said, Smt. Pragna Parande, Member, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi.  Addressing the inauguration of a workshop as Chief Guest, Smt. Pragna Parande said that integration of Yoga and Meditation in Pre-Natal care key to child development. The workshop, Aaryajanani – Power of the first 1000 days from conception to 2 years was organised by Dhastri Mothers Milk Bank  and CLMC in collaboration with Sushena Health Foundation, Fernandez Foundation and UNICEF.

       Smt. Pragna Parande, Member, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi interacted with the participants and provided insights from her experience of travelling across the country and meeting with children, parents and Juvenile Justice functionaries. Smt Pragna guided them on ways to ensure social, physical and mental development of children. She also highlighted the importance of positive parenting in both preventing social harms to children and ensuring their development.

Smt.Pragna recalled the celebration of POSHAN MAAH across the country to bring awareness on healthy and nutritious food for pregnant women and children as a novel step by the government. She further informed that inclusion of fathers in any care and protection program is necessary to ensure holistic care and protection. She stressed on strengthening the rural healthcare infrastructure and ensuring accessibility of healthcare to all. She expressed the need for integration of yoga and meditation in pre-natal care and awareness on breastfeeding, nurturing, and infant nutrition to ensure healthy mothers and their babies.
