Telangana Pushes Skill Mobility Pathways
Minister Vivek Leads Strategic Talks with Indian Ambassador in Germany
Berlin, Germany, April 11:
In a significant step towards expanding overseas employment opportunities for Telangana youth, a high-level delegation led by Labour, Employment, Training & Factories Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy held a strategic meeting with Ajit Gupte, Ambassador of India to Germany, at the Indian Embassy in Berlin on Friday.
The discussions focused on strengthening skill mobility pathways and enhancing the role of the Indian diaspora in Germany, Europe’s largest economy.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the growing presence of the Indian community in Germany, which has crossed 3.11 lakh, with nearly 1.16 lakh actively contributing to the economy. This, they noted, reflects the increasing demand for and acceptance of skilled Indian professionals in the German labour market.
A key focus area of the talks was the rising demand for both blue-collar and skilled workforce in Germany. Both sides underscored the importance of pre-departure skill training in India to ensure candidates are well-equipped to meet international standards and workplace expectations.
The Minister emphasized Telangana’s preparedness in this regard, stating that the state has developed world-class training infrastructure, including advanced laboratories and skill centres aligned with global industrial needs.
Highlighting Telangana’s proactive initiatives, the delegation briefed the Ambassador on several key programmes:
- Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM): A structured system for recruitment, training, and German language preparation of candidates.
- PM SETU Programme: An initiative aimed at facilitating smoother international workforce mobility across sectors.
- Master Trainer Initiative: A proposed programme to bridge the gap between Indian training methodologies and German industry requirements.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including M. Dana Kishore, IAS, Special Chief Secretary (LET&F), Stalin Babu Cheekatla, Minister (Consular) at the Indian Embassy in Berlin, and representatives from TOMCOM.
Ambassador Ajit Gupte appreciated the Telangana Government’s forward-looking approach and assured full support from the Embassy in promoting ethical and structured labour mobility.
This collaboration is expected to create new employment opportunities for Telangana youth across sectors such as healthcare, engineering, and specialised vocational trades, further strengthening the state’s global workforce footprint.
