BRS Has No Genuine Concern for Dalits, Says Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy in Assembly

Hyderabad: Minister G. Vivek Venkataswamy made sharp remarks in the Assembly, targeting the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) over its stance on Dalit issues and internal party conduct.

Referring to comments made by Kaushik Reddy against senior leader Kadiyam Srihari, the minister said leaders like K. T. Rama Rao and T. Harish Rao should have intervened and exercised control.

He alleged that BRS lacks genuine concern for Dalits, pointing out that K. Chandrashekar Rao had once promised to make a Dalit the Chief Minister but failed to fulfill that commitment. He further criticized the party for promoting dynastic politics, noting that the Working President post was given to KCR’s son.

The minister also highlighted that during the BRS regime, several leaders who had defected from the Congress were accommodated with ministerial positions. He accused Rajeshwar Reddy of conveniently ignoring these facts in current political discussions.

On the issue of forming a House Committee, T. Harish Rao had demanded its गठन, while the Chief Minister instead announced an inquiry through the CB-CID. Clarifying the government’s stand, Vivek Venkataswamy said House Committees are typically constituted for policy matters, whereas investigative issues are best handled by specialized agencies like the CBCID.

He also pointed out that K. Kavitha had earlier sought a House Committee in a similar matter, but BRS leaders are now silent on that demand.

The minister further revealed that notices have been issued to Raghava Constructions and assured that appropriate action will follow. He asserted that the Congress government has effectively curbed the sand mafia that had flourished during the BRS regime.

Concluding his remarks, he said the opposition’s insistence on a House Committee indicates apprehension that a CBCID probe could bring the truth to light.
