Ambedkar’s Ideals Must Guide Our Lives: Minister Vivek Venkatswamy

Hyderabad/Zaheerabad, April 26:
Labour, Employment and Mines Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy emphasized that merely installing statues of B. R. Ambedkar is not enough, and called upon people to imbibe his ideals in their daily lives.

The minister was speaking after inaugurating a statue of Dr. Ambedkar at Ramateerth village in Zaheerabad on Sunday.

Highlighting Ambedkar’s inspiring journey, he said that despite facing severe discrimination, he rose above challenges to achieve remarkable academic excellence. He noted that Ambedkar was among the first Indians to study at the London School of Economics and earned numerous academic qualifications, making him a role model for generations.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy urged people to follow Ambedkar’s path, pointing out that while many tend to retreat in the face of discrimination, Ambedkar stood firm and overcame hardships through knowledge and determination. He stressed that education and discipline, as advocated by Ambedkar, are key to building courage and confidence.

Speaking on social justice, the minister said that while Mahatma Gandhi fought against British rule, Ambedkar strongly championed the cause of Dalits and worked to eliminate social inequalities. He credited Ambedkar’s education and self-confidence for enabling him to lead such transformative movements.

He further noted that Ambedkar is globally respected for his contributions, including his vision behind the Reserve Bank of India and his pivotal role in drafting the Constitution of India. He added that Ambedkar played a crucial role in introducing reforms such as women’s rights through the Hindu Code Bill and advancing labour rights, including minimum wages.

Encouraging citizens to draw inspiration from Ambedkar, the minister said every individual should strive for self-education and take responsibility to mentor at least five others in society.

Reflecting on his personal journey, he recalled that his father, Kaka Venkatswamy, despite limited formal education, strongly believed in the power of learning. He added that their Dr. Ambedkar Educational Institutions continue to support meritorious students in pursuing higher education.

The minister also spoke about his industrial experience, stating that Vishakha Industries has grown significantly and provides employment to thousands. He urged people to adopt a growth-oriented mindset that benefits both individuals and society.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy concluded by stressing the need to strengthen the Indian National Congress in Medak district. Suresh Shetkar, along with several party leaders and Congress workers, attended the programme.
