Driving School to Train 10,000 Youth for Employment Opportunities: Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkatswamy

SIDDIPET, July 10: The Telangana Government is establishing Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) across the State with the objective of equipping youth with industry-relevant skills and creating employment opportunities both in India and abroad, said Dr G. Vivek Venkatswamy, Minister for Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mines and Geology. He assured that the Labour Department and the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) are committed to ensuring 100 per cent placement opportunities for trainees at the Husnabad ATC.

Dr Vivek Venkatswamy, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Advanced Technology Centre building at Husnabad in Siddipet district on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the rapid emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the nature of employment in the IT sector while significantly increasing global demand for skilled blue-collar professionals. Recognising this shift, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has initiated the establishment of 119 Advanced Technology Centres across Telangana with an investment of ₹4,000 crore, he said.

Dr Vivek Venkatswamy stated that the ATCs will offer modern, industry-oriented courses such as Robotics, Automation, High-Tech Welding, CNC Machining, and Semiconductor Technology, based on the skill requirements of various industries. He said Telangana has emerged as a national leader in skill development and added that the Union Government had appointed him Chairman of the committee constituted to recommend new skill development courses. He further noted that Telangana has secured three clusters under the PM-SETU scheme, which is expected to bring substantial Central funding for skill development initiatives.

Highlighting overseas employment opportunities, the Minister said Germany alone has an annual demand for nearly 500,000 skilled workers. He said German representatives have expressed their willingness to recruit youth from Telangana provided they receive technical training along with German language proficiency. He informed that 100 youth are already undergoing German language training at Mandamarri, and efforts are underway to facilitate their placement in Germany within the next three to four months.

Announcing another major initiative, Dr Vivek Venkatswamy said the Government is ready to establish a German Language Training Centre in Husnabad. He assured that once the necessary infrastructure is made available, the Labour Department will provide trainers and bear the entire cost of training.

“If we can send 500 youth from Husnabad to Germany, it will become a model for the entire region,” he said.

The Minister cautioned youth against falling prey to fraudulent private agents who collect huge sums by promising overseas jobs. He said TOMCOM, a Government of Telangana initiative, facilitates overseas placements through direct agreements with foreign governments and reputed organisations, ensuring a transparent and reliable recruitment process. He added that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has allocated ₹90 crore to strengthen and expand TOMCOM’s activities.

Dr Vivek Venkatswamy also announced that the State Government has decided to provide a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 to students enrolled in Advanced Technology Centres so that financial constraints do not force them to discontinue their training. He urged youth to complete their courses with dedication and take full advantage of the employment opportunities available.

To further enhance employment prospects for local youth, the Minister announced the establishment of a Driving Training School in Husnabad. He said individuals with at least two years of driving experience would receive specialised training to qualify for overseas employment, where nearly 10,000 vacancies with attractive salaries are currently available for professional drivers. He assured that the driving school would be established in coordination with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.

Recalling the Telangana statehood movement, Dr Vivek Venkatswamy said he and Ponnam Prabhakar had worked together to place the aspirations of the people of Telangana before former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. He also noted that the people of Husnabad had elected his father, former Union Minister G. Venkataswamy, as Member of Parliament on four occasions and said his family shares a longstanding bond with the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said the Government aims to develop Husnabad into a model constituency through improvements in education, healthcare, agriculture, employment, tourism and industrial development. He thanked Dr Vivek Venkatswamy on behalf of the people of Husnabad for sanctioning the Advanced Technology Centre and initiating the construction of its building. He directed officials to complete the project at the earliest so that local youth can benefit from advanced skill training and enhanced employment opportunities.
