India’s First: EbixCash World Money Secures Perpetual RBI Licence
New Gateway for Trade and Family Remittances; MSMEs to Benefit from Faster Global Payments
Hyderabad, July 22: EbixCash World Money Limited has become the first Authorised Dealer Category-II (AD-II) entity in India to receive a perpetual Reserve Bank of India (RBI) licence with an expanded scope of permitted activities. The milestone follows the RBI’s May 2026 revision to the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) framework, allowing AD-II entities for the first time to process trade remittances of up to ₹25 lakh per transaction and family maintenance remittances.
The regulatory change marks a significant transformation in India’s cross-border payments ecosystem. Until now, trade remittances were handled primarily by banks and AD-I institutions. With this approval, EbixCash World Money becomes the first non-bank AD-II entity authorised to offer these services, providing MSMEs, SMEs, exporters and importers with a faster, more accessible, and efficient channel for international trade payments.
Extensive Nationwide Presence
With more than 27 years of experience in cross-border payments, EbixCash World Money has built one of India’s largest payment networks, operating over 100 branches across 70+ cities, serving customers at 20+ international airports, maintaining 25,000+ customer touchpoints, and partnering with more than 40 banks. The company also facilitates over 75% of India’s cash-to-cash inward remittances through the AD-II channel.
“A Recognition of Three Decades of Trust”
Commenting on the achievement, TC Guruprasad, Managing Director & CEO of EbixCash World Money Limited, said the licence reflects nearly three decades of building trust with the regulator through strong governance, compliance, and customer protection.
He said the company aims to become India’s most trusted and comprehensive payments and foreign exchange platform by integrating payments, remittances, travel cards, and treasury services into a single technology-driven ecosystem. The vision, he added, aligns with the RBI’s Payment Vision 2028 and the G20 Roadmap for Enhancing Cross-Border Payments, with the company committed to helping shape the future of India’s digital payments ecosystem.
Guruprasad also noted that MSMEs previously had no accessible non-bank channel for trade remittances and that the company’s nationwide network would bring these services directly to exporters and importers across the country.
“Every Transaction Will Set a Benchmark”
Himanshu Pramanick, Chief Compliance Officer, said receiving a perpetual licence along with an expanded scope of activities is a rare recognition of the company’s robust compliance framework.
He stated that RBI’s confidence had been earned through years of proven compliance across millions of transactions and multiple audits. As the first company to receive this approval, every trade remittance processed under the licence would set a benchmark for the industry, he said, adding that the company is committed to maintaining the highest standards in every transaction.
Strengthening India’s Cross-Border Payments Infrastructure
The expanded licence further strengthens EbixCash World Money’s international payments capabilities. The company already has RBI approval to maintain Nostro accounts, holds Principal Membership of Visa and Mastercard, offers multi-currency prepaid travel cards across more than 12 currencies, and provides real-time payment services to the United Kingdom and Europe.
Combined with its Payment Service Provider approval in GIFT City and investments in AI-driven compliance and fraud detection systems, the company now offers one of India’s most comprehensive non-bank cross-border payment platforms.
