ATCs to Open Global Career Opportunities for Telangana Youth: Minister Vivek
Foundation stone laid for Rudrangi ATC; Government to provide skill training, German language coaching and overseas placements through TOMCOM
RUDRANGI (Rajanna Sircilla), August 4: Telangana is creating a robust skill development ecosystem to ensure that young people receive industry-oriented training and secure quality employment in India and abroad, SHAKTI (Labour, Employment, Training & Factories) and Mines & Geology Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy said on Tuesday.
The Minister laid the foundation stone for the new Advanced Technology Centre (ATC) building at Rudrangi in Vemulawada Assembly constituency and said the government is committed to supporting students from skill training to final job placement.
Addressing a public meeting, Dr. Vivek said employment trends are rapidly evolving due to emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Electric Vehicles (EVs), Robotics and Drones. To prepare Telangana’s youth for these opportunities, the government is establishing 120 Advanced Technology Centres across 119 Assembly constituencies, replacing outdated training methods with modern, industry-driven courses.
The Minister directed Director of Employment and Training (DET) Kanti Wesley to explore the introduction of an advanced agriculture technology course at the Rudrangi ATC in consultation with ICRISAT, considering the increasing role of technology in agriculture.
He said students enrolled in ITIs and ATCs are receiving a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 to ensure financial constraints do not interrupt their education. “Our responsibility does not end with training. We will continue supporting students until they secure employment,” he said.
Global Opportunities Through TOMCOM
Highlighting the government’s overseas employment initiatives, Dr. Vivek said the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM) is creating pathways for skilled youth to work abroad.
He announced that if 100 eligible youth are identified from Rudrangi, the government will arrange German language training by deputing a trainer to the area, while TOMCOM will facilitate overseas placements after successful completion of the course.
He requested Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas to take the lead in mobilising eligible candidates and directed officials to organise an awareness programme on overseas employment through TOMCOM next week.
The Minister said 100 candidates are already undergoing German language training at Mandamarri, adding that skilled youth with language proficiency can earn more than ₹2 lakh per month in Germany and Japan. The government is also exploring additional employment opportunities in Japan.
ITIs Revamped into Modern Skill Centres
The Minister alleged that Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) were neglected during the previous government’s tenure due to inadequate investment in infrastructure and training facilities. He said the Congress government has transformed ITIs into Advanced Technology Centres equipped with modern infrastructure and industry-oriented courses.
Criticism Over Remarks on German Language
Responding to criticism from BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao, Dr. Vivek said it was inappropriate to ridicule Telangana youth for learning German.
“If learning English to work in the United States is appreciated, why should a poor youth from Telangana be mocked for learning German and aspiring to earn over ₹2 lakh a month in Germany?” he asked, urging political leaders not to trivialise the aspirations of young people.
Kaleshwaram Project Criticised
The Minister also criticised the previous BRS government over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. He said the original Pranahita–Chevella Project, conceived under the leadership of late Kaka Venkataswamy, had an estimated cost of ₹36,000 crore, with works worth nearly ₹11,000 crore already completed before it was redesigned.
He alleged that converting it into a massive lift irrigation project substantially increased construction costs and imposed a recurring electricity burden due to extensive pumping requirements. He questioned why gravity-based irrigation options were abandoned and alleged that the people of Telangana continue to bear the financial burden.
Praise for Adi Srinivas
Dr. Vivek praised Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Adi Srinivas for his dedication to constituency development.
“Every time I meet him in the Assembly, he comes with several development proposals for Vemulawada. Despite electoral setbacks in the past, he remained among the people and continued working for them. His commitment to transforming Vemulawada into one of the state’s leading constituencies is commendable,” he said.
The Minister added that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy recognised Adi Srinivas’s commitment by appointing him as Government Whip and expressed confidence that he would shoulder greater responsibilities in the future.
₹200-Crore Integrated School Planned
Dr. Vivek announced that an Integrated School costing around ₹200 crore will be established in the Vemulawada constituency. He also said the government is strengthening healthcare infrastructure to ensure education and medical care remain affordable for poor families.
He highlighted major welfare initiatives of the state government, including free bus travel for women, free electricity up to 200 units, Indiramma Housing Scheme and distribution of fine rice.
National Recognition for Telangana’s Skill Model
Referring to a recent Skill Development meeting in New Delhi, the Minister said Telangana’s Advanced Technology Centre model received appreciation from the Union Government.
He said the Union Ministry of Skill Development has constituted a special committee to develop new skill courses across India and entrusted him with responsibilities in the initiative.
The Minister further stated that Telangana securing three clusters under the PM SETU Scheme, each expected to receive around ₹200 crore, reflects the state’s leadership in skill development. Efforts are underway to secure additional clusters for Telangana, he added.
“Our goal is to provide Telangana’s youth with quality education, advanced skills and meaningful employment. Through the ATCs, we will build a globally competitive workforce and connect young people with opportunities both in India and overseas,” the Minister said.
