MANN KI BAAT IS A CELEBRATION OF INDIA’S SPIRIT

TAMILISAI SOUNDARARAJAN WATCHED THE SCREENING OF 100TH EPISODE OF PM’S MANN KI BAAT AT RAJBHAVAN ALONG WITH THOSE MENTIONED BY PM IN MKB

The hundredth episode of the monthly Radio broadcast of the Prime Minister ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was screened at the Raj Bhawan today. Hon’ble Governer of Telangana, Dr. Smt Tamilisai Soundararajan, as the Chief Guest, watched the special screening organised by the Prasarbharati, along with the people who were spoken about highly by the Prime Minister in the previous episodes of Mann Ki Baat.

“Shri Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat is a revolution and has attracted millions of people and touched their hearts” said Governer Smt Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan. The Governer, in her address said that the Mann Ki Baat personifies the celebration of India’s spirit. and has become a mass movement because of the vision of the Prime Minister. She lauded the fact that the Prime Minister chose the All India Radio as the medium of communication to reach out to all people even in the remote areas and in doing so, restored the past glory of the Radio too. Recalling the mentions of extraordinary achievements of ordinary people in Mann Ki Baat (MKB), the Governer said that PM has this exceptional quality to connect and communicate to the people of the country. He is the only leader who have communicated to over 100 crore people through his Mann Ki Baat, she added. MKB is not only an expression of PM’s thoughts but also the expression of expectations of the people. PM reaches out to people through the bottom of his heart and his words become a people’s movement, she said. As an example, PM’s message on food wastage influenced millions of people and motivated them to utilize food optimally and ensured reduction in food wastage.

Another example is ‘Selfie with Daughters’ which enthused pride in the girl child. Talking about success of Swachh Bharat Mission, Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan said when PM mentioned about Swachh Bharat Mission in his 1st Mann Ki Baat episode in 2014, about 75 lakh students and 40 thousand organisations participated in the cleanliness movement and 2.5 crore children participated in the drawing competition on Swachh Bharat Mission, she said. Citing examples of promotion of Khadi, Vande Bharat, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, Organ Donation, COVID Vaccination, Har Ghar Tiranga, the Governer asserted that they grew into successful mass campaigns due to their mentions in the Mann Ki Baat series by the Prime Minister.

Earlier, welcoming the gathering, Smt. Shruti Patil, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB) and Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) said that “Mann Ki Baat is a unique model of communication, unparalleled in the world, a first-of-its-kind radio show hosted by the Prime Minister of a country.” Referring to the recent survey conducted by IIM Rohtak on Mann Ki Baat, she said the data obtained shows that MKB programme has positively influenced the citizens. The survey said 73% feel optimistic about Country’s progress, 60% have shown interest in working for nation building and 63% feel that their approach towards the government has become positive. Therefore, Mann Ki Baat is not only about the ‘Mann’ or the ‘mind’ of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, but also very much about what the common man on the street thinks, she said.

The event was attended by Padma Awardees from the state, eminent personalities along with those mentioned by the Prime Minister in the previous episodes of Mann Ki Baat. These include Dr.Kurella Vitalachaya, who established a library with over 2 lakh books, Miss Poorna Malavath, who climbed the peaks of seven mountains, Sri Chinthala Venkat Reddy, who developed rice and wheat rich in Vitamin D, Sri.Kodipaka Ramesh, who wrote on NaMo app ‘My Mother is My Strength’, Sri Yeldi Hariprasad, a weaver who sent the hand-woven G20 logo to the Prime Minister, Sri Srinivas, Secretary of Bowenpally Market Yard which converted the waste into wealth, Sri Raj Kumar Naik, who popularized the Perini dance form, Smt Meera Shenoy, who is involved training youth with special needs, Sri Sanjay Nekkanti, CEO of Dhruva Space, Sri Santosh Kumar, MPDO of Paravatagiri mandal who’s actively involved in building Amrit Sarovar at Mangtya Walya Thanda.

Earlier, the Governor Smt. Tamilisai Soundararajan released the monthly magazine Yojana of the Publications Division featuring Mann Ki Baat of the Prime Minister. She inaugurated a photo exhibition on Mann Ki Baat put up by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), a media unit of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. On the occasion, the Governor planted a sapling and handed over the saplings to those who were mentioned in earlier episodes of Mann Ki Baat. The officers Media Units of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting namely, Doordarshan, All India Radio, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) and the Publications Division and officers of the Raj Bhavan participated in the event.
