Senior Indian Information Service Officer Ravi Ramakrishna passes away

Hyderabad: The Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ravi Ramakrishna passed away at the age of 57 years in the early hours of today.

An officer of the 1991 batch, he had held various prestigious positions in his career so far. He served in various capacities in DD News, AIR, PIB and Bureau of Outreach and Communication. He was one of the key members of the team which launched the DD News 24/7 channel. He also served as Prasar Bharati Correspondent in Kabul and filed exclusive reports from the ground during a challenging period of the turmoil and conflict in Afghanistan. In his previous posting before he took charge of PIB Vijayawada, he was looking after the publicity requirements in the PM Unit and that of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in New Delhi.

Having his roots in Visakhapatnam, he studied at the Bapatla Agricultural College. A person with keen interest in arts, he used to play the Veena and had special culinary talent. Seniors and colleagues describe him as a lively, fun loving and dynamic officer who always welcomed new challenges and maintained calm in difficult situations. He is remembered as a great mentor by his colleagues and juniors who provided insightful guidance and leadership. He always brought genuine personal touch and humor in his personal interactions. He is survived by his wife, daughter and mother.
