Konijeti Rosaiah Was an Ideal Statesman and Role Model for Today’s Generation: Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy
Grand Celebrations Mark 93rd Birth Anniversary of Former Chief Minister at Ravindra Bharathi
Hyderabad, July 4: Minister for Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mines & Geology, Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy, described former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah as an exemplary statesman whose life and public service continue to inspire future generations.
The Minister was speaking as the Chief Guest at the 93rd birth anniversary celebrations of the late leader, jointly organised by the Telangana Government’s Department of Language and Culture and the Konijeti Rosaiah Memorial Trust at Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday. Dr. Vivek paid floral tributes to Rosaiah’s portrait and recalled his remarkable contribution to public life.
Reflecting on his long association with the veteran leader, Dr. Vivek said Rosaiah played an instrumental role as the Leader of the Opposition during the Telugu Desam Party regime. He noted that Rosaiah meticulously studied budget proposals, held governments accountable on public issues, and went beyond criticism by offering constructive suggestions on strengthening the state’s economy. As Finance Minister, he possessed a clear vision for the state’s priorities, welfare, and development, he said.
The Minister also recalled Rosaiah’s guidance during the Telangana movement. He said that while he and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar were actively participating in the movement, Rosaiah would always advise them to strive for Telangana while ensuring justice to people in both regions. Dr. Vivek also recounted Rosaiah’s gracious support during the inauguration of the Jaipur Power Plant, where despite protests, he personally conveyed that development projects should not be viewed through political differences and attended the event to encourage everyone involved.
Praising Rosaiah’s administrative excellence, the Minister said he set high standards in governance through his integrity and diligence. He recalled that Rosaiah was known for working late into the night at the Secretariat, carefully examining every file before taking a decision. Rather than acting in haste, he would thoroughly evaluate whether a proposal was legally sound and beneficial to the people before approving it.
Dr. Vivek further said that his family shared a close relationship with Rosaiah for several decades. He recalled that Rosaiah had a warm bond with his father and always treated him and his brother Vinod with great affection and encouragement. He expressed gratitude for the love and guidance extended by the late leader to their family.
The Minister congratulated the organisers and members of the Konijeti Rosaiah Memorial Trust for conducting the commemorative event. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, representatives of the Memorial Trust, eminent personalities, officials of the Department of Language and Culture, and several dignitaries attended the programme.
