“Ambedkar’s Ideals Must Guide Our Lives: Minister Vivek Venkatswamy”

Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy stated that merely installing statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar is not enough, and highlighted the need to imbibe his ideals in everyday life.
He was speaking after inaugurating a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at Ramateerth village in Zaheerabad on Sunday.
The minister highlighted that Dr. Ambedkar faced severe discrimination during his lifetime but rose above all hardships to achieve remarkable academic excellence. He noted that Ambedkar was among the first Indians to study at the London School of Economics and earned over 32 degrees, making him a true inspiration for generations.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy urged people to follow the path shown by Ambedkar, pointing out that while many tend to withdraw in the face of discrimination, Ambedkar stood firm in his beliefs and overcame challenges through knowledge and determination. He added that Ambedkar taught the importance of education and discipline in building courage and confidence.
The minister also spoke about Ambedkar’s role in advocating social justice, stating that while Mahatma Gandhi fought against British rule, Ambedkar strongly voiced the need for Dalits to be freed from social inequalities. He said Ambedkar’s education and self-confidence enabled him to champion such causes.
He further noted that Ambedkar is respected globally for his wisdom and contributions, including his vision behind the establishment of the Reserve Bank of India and his pivotal role in drafting the Constitution of India. The minister added that Ambedkar’s efforts led to significant reforms such as women’s rights through the Hindu Code Bill and the introduction of labor rights and minimum wages.
Encouraging people to take inspiration from Ambedkar, Dr. Venkatswamy said that every individual should strive for self-education and take responsibility to mentor at least five others in society.
Reflecting on his personal journey, he mentioned that his father, late Kaka Venkatswamy, though only educated up to SSC, believed strongly in the importance of education. He added that their Dr. Ambedkar Educational Institutions continue to support meritorious students in pursuing higher education.
The minister also spoke about his experience in industry, stating that Vishakha Industries has grown significantly and provides employment to thousands. He urged everyone to adopt a growth-oriented mindset that benefits not just individuals but society as a whole.
Dr. Venkatswamy concluded by stressing the need for dedicated efforts to strengthen the Congress party in Medak district. Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar, along with several party leaders and Congress workers, attended the program.
