BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit–2026 Inaugurated in Hyderabad

110 Delegates from 14 Countries Participate

Three-Day Deliberations on Social Security, Skill Development and Best Labour Practices

Productivity Grows Only When Workers Enjoy Social Security and Welfare: Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkatswamy

HYDERABAD, JULY 14: The prestigious BRICS Trade Union Forum Summit–2026 was formally inaugurated on Tuesday at the Marriott Hotel in Hyderabad by Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya and Telangana Minister for Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mines and Geology Dr G. Vivek Venkatswamy. The three-day international summit will be held from July 14 to 16.

Addressing the inaugural session, Dr Vivek Venkatswamy said the global labour market is undergoing rapid transformation due to technological advancements, particularly the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation. He noted that these changes are reshaping the nature of employment, making social security, continuous skill development and lifelong learning essential for workers across the world.

The Minister said workers can contribute their best to industrial growth only when they have confidence in the security of their jobs and the well-being of their families. He stressed that nations must work together to strengthen social security systems, protect workers’ rights and invest in skill development to build a resilient workforce for the future.

Dr Vivek Venkatswamy said the summit would deliberate on key issues including technological transformation, the future of work, skill development, social security, labour rights and the strengthening of trade unions. He stated that one of the forum’s primary objectives is to study successful labour policies implemented across different countries and formulate recommendations to encourage the adoption of best practices globally.

Highlighting Telangana’s initiatives, the Minister said the State Government has placed special emphasis on preparing its workforce for future industry requirements by establishing Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) across Telangana. These centres are equipping young people with cutting-edge technical skills through industry-oriented training programmes aligned with evolving industrial needs.

He further noted that there is a growing global demand for skilled manpower and that the Telangana Government, through the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM), is facilitating overseas employment opportunities for youth in countries such as Germany, Japan, several European nations and the Middle East. These initiatives, he said, are enabling young people to secure high-paying international jobs while also contributing to the State’s economic growth through a globally competitive skilled workforce.

The three-day summit has brought together around 110 delegates from 14 countries, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Belarus, Malaysia and Nigeria.

Participants will engage in extensive discussions on labour welfare, social justice, employment security and international cooperation. Special task forces have been constituted to prepare recommendations for future collaboration and policy initiatives.

The international summit is being hosted by the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS). Representatives from participating countries, trade union leaders, and senior officials from the Central and State Governments attended the inaugural session.
