Minister Vivek Venkatswamy Participates in Virtual Meeting on Central Labour Codes 2020
Hyderabad, June 8: Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy participated in the virtual meeting of Labour Ministers from all States and Union Territories from his chamber at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat on Monday.
The video conference meeting was conducted by the Ministry of Labour, Government of India. The meeting focused on reviewing the status of implementation of the four Central Labour Codes, 2020, and discussing related issues concerning labour reforms across the country.
On this occasion, the Minister stated that the Telangana Government is actively working towards the implementation of the Labour Codes, 2020. He said the process of integrating the provisions of the new labour codes is underway and that the reforms will be implemented in the state at the earliest.Secretary LETF Smt Dasari Harichandana, IAS and officials of Labour departhment accompanied the minister in the meeting.
Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized the need for all States and Union Territories to expedite the implementation of the Labour Codes, 2020, stating that the reforms are aimed at improving the welfare of workers while simplifying labour regulations.
Addressing a virtual meeting of Labour Ministers from States and Union Territories, the Union Minister said that the Central Government had already prepared the model rules for the Labour Codes. Several states have adopted these rules with suitable modifications and have republished them in accordance with their local requirements.
He noted that labour is a subject on the Concurrent List, requiring coordinated efforts between the Centre and the States for effective implementation. The Labour Codes, 2020, have consolidated and integrated various existing labour laws into a simplified framework that provides greater protection and benefits to workers while ensuring ease of compliance.
Mandaviya observed that despite political differences, many states have come forward and expressed their willingness to implement the Labour Codes in the larger interest of workers and economic development.
The Union Minister further assured that the Central Government is ready to extend financial assistance, wherever required, for capacity building and training programmes for labour department officials to facilitate smooth implementation of the new labour framework. The meeting also reviewed the status of implementation of the four Labour Codes across the country and discussed various issues related to labour reforms and worker welfare.
