Hon’ble Governor of Telangana and Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Puducherry Dr. (Smt.) Tamilisai Soundararajan welcomed and was happy to preside over the annual general body meeting being held after a gap of two years due to the pandemic. The Governor mentioned though the schedule faced a disruption, but the spirit to serve the people was not. She was highly appreciative of the noble services of IRCS functionaries that were extended not only during the COVID pandemic but also during the times of natural calamities like floods and heavy rains.
Further, she reminded that the IRCS, was in the forefront performing philanthropic activities and serving people, esp. organization of blood donation camps, development of app to connect the blood donors, needy, and the blood banks as well as successfully enrolling 18 lakh JRC & YRC volunteers. The Governor referred that the IRCS, Telangana was undoubtedly leading the way in the nation in terms of fortifying the other bodies in comparison to the YRC and JRC. She appreciated and acknowledged the services undertaken by IRCS in the six adopted primitive tribal habitations in three districts and their intervention in improving their nutritional status, strengthening their community resources, while improving their livelihoods are really marvelous and worth appreciating.
In addition, she recollected about the journey of helping the needy TB patients, and foresees a greater and pro-active role while embarking on a mission mode to ensure the TB Mukt-Telangana by the year 2024 and appealed everyone to come forward to adopt at least one TB patient each for nutritional supplements. This she said would assist in shaping of a movement and facilitate to contribute our bit to transform the country as TB Mukt-Bharat by the year 2025, as envisioned by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji.
The Governor praised the organizations like the power grid corporation, SCCL and other corporate institutions for coming forward in supporting, donating, and sponsoring different activities. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the blood donors for their selfless service and for their generosity in saving many precious lives. Simultaneously, an appreciation was bestowed on all the NGOs, Corporates, government agencies, PSUs, activists, philanthropists, and all other volunteers for their active part in helping the needy through IRCS activities.
The Governor wished that the IRCS would emerge as a vibrant agency to reach out to the needy. She congratulated the award winners and wished a great success in the mission to help and support the needy.Though invited to receive awards two ministers, one MLA, nineteen Collectors and five SP’s and one Commissioner of Police chose to abstain from the function.
