Telangana Strengthens India–Europe Skill Partnership Through TOMCOM

State Government Preparing Youth for Europe’s Growing Skilled Workforce Demand

G. Vivek Venkatswamy said the Telangana Government is committed to creating international employment opportunities for the youth of the state and is taking focused measures to strengthen overseas skill development initiatives through TOMCOM. He announced that the government has allocated ₹90 crore in the state budget to further strengthen the organisation and expand global employment training programmes.

The Minister was speaking as the chief guest at the State-Level Workshop on India–European Union Mobility held at The Park Hyderabad in Somajiguda, Hyderabad, on Wednesday. The workshop was organised under Phase-II of the India–EU Migration and Mobility Project by the Ministry of External Affairs and the European Union in collaboration with TOMCOM.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said Europe currently offers extensive employment opportunities while India possesses a large pool of talented and trainable youth. He said this creates a mutually beneficial partnership, with India producing skilled human resources and European nations actively seeking professionally trained workers. Recognising this opportunity early, the Telangana Government has initiated focused efforts to prepare youth for global careers.

The Minister stated that TOMCOM has emerged as a key institution in guiding and training young professionals for overseas employment. Several candidates trained through TOMCOM are already working successfully in foreign countries. He particularly highlighted the increasing demand in European nations for candidates trained in foreign languages, especially German.

He also noted that the government is creating awareness among youth regarding the risks associated with illegal or unverified migration channels and is encouraging them to choose safe, legal and structured pathways for overseas employment.

To meet the evolving demands of both domestic and international job markets, particularly in Europe, the Telangana Government has established Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) across the state. These centres are providing industry-oriented and globally relevant skill training aligned with emerging employment trends.

Referring to the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence, the Minister observed that traditional job roles are changing significantly and emphasised the importance of skill upgradation and technological adaptability. He stated that youth trained according to future industry requirements would be better positioned to secure international career opportunities.

Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said the workshop is helping create awareness among Telangana youth about higher education, skill development and employment opportunities available in European countries. He added that the Telangana Government is giving special priority to global education and international skill mobility initiatives.

Referring to his recent visit to Germany, the Minister said the delegation witnessed significant demand for skilled manpower in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, technology and services. He added that the government is implementing pilot projects for language training across Telangana to facilitate safe and professionally guided overseas employment opportunities for youth.

The event was attended by Ministry of External Affairs Under Secretary Adarsh Kumar Mehra, LETF Secretary D. Harichandana, Director of Employment and Training Kanthi Wesley, Regional Passport Officer J. Snehaja, ICWA Joint Secretary Abhijit Chakraborthy and other dignitaries.
