Labour and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy stated that the Constitution authored by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar serves as a guiding force for the development of society. He praised Ambedkar for framing the Constitution with the welfare and upliftment of all sections of society in mind. The Minister said Ambedkar introduced progressive ideas and measures that created special opportunities for women’s development and paved the way for reservations enabling women to excel in all fields.
Recalling his tenure as a Member of Parliament, the Minister said he had supported the Women’s Reservation Bill. He also mentioned that his wife has been actively conducting several awareness and empowerment programmes for women. He stressed that women should move beyond household boundaries and actively participate in educational and social spheres. He further stated that educational institutions being run in Ambedkar’s name are providing quality education to children from poor families.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy participated as the chief guest in the 135th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar organized by the GSI Southern Region SC/ST Employees Association at the Geological Survey of India (GSI) office in Nagole Bandlaguda on Thursday. He paid floral tributes to Ambedkar’s statue installed at the GSI office on this occasion.
The Minister said continuous struggles are necessary for the development of the people. Remembering contributions of his father and former Union Minister Gaddam Venkataswamy, he said that he dedicated his entire life to the welfare of the people and rendered notable services towards the realization of Ambedkar’s ideals. He added that values such as helping people and carrying social responsibility were learned from his father.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said the services of the Geological Survey of India are being effectively carried out in Telangana. He suggested that officials should undertake deeper studies and adopt stringent measures to curb the sand mafia in the state. He also stated that over ₹1,000 crore is being allocated every year for the restoration and development of GSI services.
The Minister revealed that efforts are being made to create employment opportunities for thousands of people while helping small-scale businesses grow into major enterprises. He noted that businesses started with investments of ₹5 lakh have now grown into ventures worth crores, generating employment for many others. He called upon people to work hard and contribute towards the country’s development in all sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, GSI Southern Region DDG B. Ajay Kumar said that the Geological Survey of India has been rendering distinguished services to the nation for the last 175 years. He stated that GSI is currently undertaking over 1,000 projects across the country and conducting various geological studies in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
GSI Southern Region ADG & HOD Vijay Vishnupant Mugal said that GSI services are being extensively carried out in Telangana. He noted that Ambedkar framed the Constitution keeping in mind the upliftment of every section of society and incorporated all essential aspects needed for the nation’s comprehensive development.
DICCI Women’s Wing National President Aruna Dasari stated that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar played a historic role in drafting the Indian Constitution. She said Ambedkar worked tirelessly day and night for the welfare of the people and ensured the inclusion of several provisions for the upliftment of all sections of society, particularly Dalits and backward communities.
She further praised Minister Dr. Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy for playing a key role in carrying forward Ambedkar’s ideals in society and said he is working for social justice while following Ambedkar’s path as a public leader and minister.
