May Day Message – International Workers’ Day
I extend my warmest greetings to workers across the world, India, and Telangana on the occasion of International Workers’ Day – May Day.
The Congress government in Telangana firmly stands by the rights of workers. The Praja Palana government remains a true well-wisher of the working class and is consistently working in their best interests across the state. Whether in the organized or unorganized sector, no section is being overlooked.
To safeguard workers’ rights, the government has introduced the Telangana Gig and Platform-Based Workers Welfare Act, 2026, ensuring legal protection and recognition. This landmark legislation is set to benefit more than 4 lakh workers across the state.
The Congress government has also demonstrated its commitment to workers’ welfare by addressing most of the demands of RTC employees and recently announcing an 11% pay hike.
I wish that all workers in Telangana lead a life of dignity, with a safe and secure working environment. The government remains steadfast in protecting their rights. Workers and labourers are the backbone of every development taking place in Telangana.
Guided by the ideals of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who envisioned strong labour rights, and Kaka Venkatswamy, who championed the cause of workers, private employees, and miners, the Congress government continues to move forward with dedication and purpose.
Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy
Labour, Employment and Mines Minister
