Ramagundam ESI Hospital and Nacharam ESI Nursing College to Become Operational by Next Year
Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Assures Swift Completion Following Request by Telangana Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy and MP G. Vamshi Krishna
HYDERABAD, JULY 14: Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya has announced that the 100-bed ESI Hospital at Ramagundam and the ESI Nursing College at Nacharam will become operational by next year. Responding positively to a request made by Telangana Minister for Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mines and Geology Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy and Peddapalli MP G. Vamshi Krishna, the Union Minister assured that both prestigious projects would be completed on priority and commissioned at the earliest.
The announcement came after Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy jointly inaugurated the newly constructed Outpatient Department (OPD) Block at the ESIC Hospital, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said that under the leadership of Mansukh Mandaviya, the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has been taking significant strides towards strengthening healthcare services for workers across the country.
The Minister recalled visiting the Sanathnagar ESIC Hospital during the tenure of his father, former Union Labour Minister Kaka Venkataswamy, and said he was deeply impressed by the remarkable transformation the hospital has undergone. He noted that the establishment of a full-fledged Cardiac Care Centre, the availability of bypass surgery, a state-of-the-art dialysis unit, and advanced cancer treatment facilities reflect ESIC’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare to insured workers. He congratulated the Union Minister, ESIC officials and the medical staff for their dedicated efforts.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said that ESIC currently provides healthcare coverage to nearly 20 lakh Insured Persons (IPs) and around 80 lakh beneficiaries, including their family members, across Telangana. To reduce the patient load on the Sanathnagar ESIC Hospital, he urged the Union Minister to upgrade the Ramachandrapuram and Nacharam ESIC hospitals into advanced healthcare centres. He requested the establishment of a Cardiac Care Centre and a 20-bed dialysis unit at Ramachandrapuram, and a 20-bed dialysis unit at Nacharam, where a Cardiac Care Centre has already received approval.
Describing Ramagundam as Telangana’s largest industrial hub after Hyderabad, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said a 100-bed ESIC Hospital is essential to provide quality healthcare services to thousands of industrial workers in the region. He pointed out that although the project had been approved earlier, the tender process had stalled and requested its immediate revival. Responding to the appeal, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya assured that construction would be expedited so that the hospital becomes operational next year.
Highlighting Telangana’s achievements in overseas employment, Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy said the State has emerged as a national leader through the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM). He noted that countries such as Germany have a growing demand for qualified nursing professionals, while Telangana is also experiencing a shortage of nurses. He therefore requested the establishment of an ESI Nursing College at Nacharam, stating that graduates would have employment opportunities both in ESIC hospitals across India and in international healthcare institutions. Accepting the proposal, the Union Minister assured that the Nursing College would also commence operations next year.
The Minister further requested the Union Government to expedite construction of the ESI Hospital at Shamshabad, for which the Telangana Government has already allotted land, and to approve a new ESI Hospital at Mahabubnagar. He also observed that the Warangal region would require an ESI Hospital in the near future to meet the growing healthcare needs of industrial workers.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy also appealed for the reapproval of 15 ESI dispensaries whose establishment had been delayed due to land-related issues. He assured that the Telangana Government would complete and operationalise all the dispensaries within 12 months of receiving approval from the Centre.
Expressing concern over the increasing incidence of kidney-related diseases, the Minister emphasised the need to establish dialysis units in every ESIC hospital. He noted that many patients from rural areas are currently forced to travel to urban centres for dialysis treatment and said that expanding dialysis facilities across the ESIC network would significantly improve access to quality healthcare for workers and their families.
Dr. Vivek Venkatswamy reaffirmed that the Central and Telangana Governments are working in close coordination to strengthen healthcare security for workers and reiterated the State Government’s commitment to extending full cooperation for the expansion and modernisation of ESIC healthcare services across Telangana.
